Precambrian rockscape, Outer Hebrides

Amongst the oldest rocks in the world, the bare Precambrian landscape of the Outer Hebrides comprises a rock surface more than 600 million year old that has been scoured by ice. This photograph of the view towards Brenish (Gaelic Breanais) from Naidevala Muigh on the west coast of Lewis was taken by Patrick Bailey in July 1985.
