Collection:  The Captain W. A. Morrison Gill Collection

History/ScopeCaptain W. A. M. Gill joined the RASC as a private in October 1939 and was posted to the 1st Cavalry Division. He arrived in Palestine in January 1940 and spent five months in Haifa until he was moved to army headquarters in Jerusalem. In November 1941, Gill was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. After six weeks spent in Lebanon, he left for Cairo to train as an Officer. In October 1944, he returned to the UK and was stationed in England and Wales until he was demobbed in March of 1946.
