History/ScopeKath Sanderson, born in 1914, was a Geography graduate from the University of Edinburgh. During WW2 she was a Met Officer in the Wrens and spent time in Simonstown, South Africa. After the war she returned to Edinburgh and worked in Wishart Brodie Stockbrokers in Charlotte square. This collection comprises 35mm slides and diaries recording her travels in the West Indies and South America, Australasia, Europe and South Africa. It is suspected the images may show the retreat that glaciers in Europe have undergone in the last 50 years. The creator died in 2006.
Notes:System of arrangement: the collection is arranged according to the original arrangement of the creator. Finding aids: each slide is clearly labelled. A list by the creator is available detailing all trips taken. A list of diaries and their coverage has been created by the archivist and is located with the collection.
