Use QGISforSchools today

QGISforSchools is a plugin designed to support and encourage the use of GIS in schools with maximum ease and minimum cost. Please help with the testing of this software by following the steps below. Just install the free QGIS software and the plugin, then download the data by clicking the button below. Please note that the plugin will only work if you are using a Windows computer with QGIS version 2.2 Valmiera.

Get the data!

1.Install QGIS

Install the free, opensource software by clicking here and running the installer once it has downloaded. Make sure that you open QGIS Desktop 2.2.0, rather than QGIS Browser.

2. Install the Plugin

Use QGIS's plugin manager to install the QGISforSchools plugin. More details on how to do this can be found here. It is recommended that you download and read the Teacher's Notes document provided on the Install page.

3. Download the data

Download the data using the button above, unzip it, and save it in a suitable place.

4.Test the Plugin

Open the plugin using the icon or going to Plugins > QGISforSchools and work through one, two or all of the units.

5. Survey

Complete the post-test survey by clicking here. This should take less than 5 minutes.

6. Share

In order to make the best product possible we need as many responses as possible. Please ask your friends, colleagues or even pupils to test the plugin as well.
