This tool generates a grid mesh which represents the coverage of collections in the selected layer and overlays it on the map view.
The colour of each mesh shows the probability that at least one of the selected collections were found inside the mesh.
Note that the coverage generation is not based on the point distribution of the layer but the "spatial vagueness" of each collection site. (E.g. if a collection only tells that it was found in Cayo District instead of well- measured coordinates, the whole district will be considered as the area where the collection was probably found.)

The approximate height (length along meridians) and width (parallels) of the meshes in Belize (17°N) are shown at the right end of each items.
Generation of high resolution grids may cost much time or fail due to server conditions.
Select [*.SHP], [*.SHX] and [*.PRJ] (optional) from your Shape fileset.
Due to browser security, you have to choose every 3 files individually.

POLYLINES ARE NOT SUPPORTED
This tool only accepts POINT or POLYGON shape files.
DUPLICATION WOULD BE REMOVED
Overlapping or adjacent objects (polygon, point) will be merged together automatically.
USE "SIMPLE" SHAPES PLEASE.
No. of polygon vertices will be kept less than 500 per polygon. The same goes for merged polygons. This may collapse the accuracy and topology of your polygon data.
USE WGS84 Lat/Lon COORDINATES PLEASE. (NOT NAD27)
Shape files are strongly recommended to have WGS84 coordinate system. Transformation to WGS84 will be attempted over non-WGS84 files basing on the given PRJ file or EPSG code, which may be inaccurate.
