PhD student of soil science
I am a PhD student of soil science research at the UK Biochar Research Centre, Edinburgh, having arrived in September 2010.
The purpose of my work is to determine the stability of biochar in Ghanaian agriculture, and to investigate the sustainability of indigenous biochar practices in Ghana. To achieve this I am working in collaboration with the Ghanaian Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the Soil Research Institute in Kumasi.
My own background is an environmental one, with a Bachelor's degree in environmental science and a Master's in environmental engineering. I have six years experience in analytical chemistry, and have also recently carried out an investigation into the 'water retention capacity' of biochar-amended soils at Rothamsted Research Centre, UK.
