New conceptual approaches: examining the links between ecosystem services and poverty alleviation
This project was funded by ESPA, led by Genevieve Patenaude , and ran from February 2011 to March 2012.
We started by reviewing a number of conceptual frameworks that are useful in this area and our review was recently published and is available open access from Global Environmental Change
. Building on the strengths of other frameworks, we developed a new conceptual framework for research at this interface, published (also open access) in Ecosystem Services
. As we develop this work into a more empirical orientation in Mozambique through the research project ACES
, we will adapt and refine the framework, and hope to document this as we go – more information to follow.
A diagram of the conceptual framework is below. To see a video of me presenting this work at an ESPA event, please click here.
