Emeritus Professor wins the Collins Medal

Emeritus Professor Brian Upton has been awarded the Collins Medal by The Mineralogical Council 

Brian Upton, Emeritus Professor of Petrology and Senior Honorary Professional Fellow, has been awarded the Collins Medal.

The Collins Medal is awarded annually to scientists who have made an outstanding contribution to pure or applied aspects of Mineral Sciences and associated studies.

Brian received his award last night at the Volcanic and Magmatic Studies Group Annual Meeting in St Andrews.

Brian said:

"I am deeply honoured that the Mineralogical Society has decided to award me with the Collins Medal for 2019. My sincere thanks go to all those friends and colleagues here and in various institutes in America and Europe without whose help and encouragement I would never have achieved this position."
