Barra

The island of Barra is one of the most southerly in the Outer Hebrides, lying about 5 miles southwest of the neighbouring island of South Uist. It is about 10 miles long, and a road 14 miles long runs around the island. It is the most westerly inhabited island in the UK. Castlebay, on the southeastern coast is the chief settlement, with a pier and ferry connections with Mallaig and Oban.

The images here are by an unknown photographer, and although their date is uncertain they were possibly taken between 1910 and 1920.
