How To: Upload a File
A file is a document displayed by a helper application. The most common examples are Portable Document Format (pdf), Word (doc), PowerPoint (ppt), Postscript (ps) and similar binary files created by non-web applications. To upload a file click the New: File link and fill out the form as follows:
-
File: always use the Browse button to locate the file to be uploaded. There is a high probability of error in just typing the file name.
-
Title: a two or three word title for the file. This is used for listing purposes - a list of existing files with their titles appears at the bottom of the form.
-
Filename: Leave blank to use the uploaded file name. Otherwise provide a one word filename, which must end with the extension indicating the type of file (pdf, doc, xls, etc). Otherwise web browsers may treat the file as corrupt when viewed by a user.
-
Upload: click the Upload button to upload the file. Remember to make a link to the file to make use of it.
