Research Staff Organisation

[Research]

The Research Staff Organisation is a network of postdocs and other interested researchers across the School of GeoSciences. The organisation was initiated in 2007 and has the following aims:

  • Provide a 'voice' for Research Staff to air views on School issues.
  • Allow Research Staff to get to know each other in a social setting.

  • Offer advice and support on Research Staff related issues.

  • Promote the sharing of common skills and techniques.

  • Provide information on careers, funding, training and other issues relevant to Research Staff.

  • Offer a more structured means of support to PhD students through the Research Training and Development Organisation (RTDO).

Events

We organise meetings approximately once a month, typically on the first Thursday of each month at 4pm. The location alternates between the Crew, Grant and Drummond Street buildings. Typically they consist of a brief talk by an invited speaker or speakers followed by an informal discussion and networking session (i.e. talking to each other!) Refreshments (free beer, wine and soft drinks) are available throughout our meetings and the emphasis is on an informal friendly get-together rather than a stuffy debate.

Click on the Upcoming Events tab on the left to see our meeting programme. We hope to see you at the next one!

Stuart Gilfillan (Grant Institute)

Walter Geibert (Grant Institute)

Bronwen Whitney (Drummond Street)

Marc Metzger (Drummond Annexe)

Rossella Guerrieri (Crew Building)

Feedback and suggestions for meetings and speakers are very welcome. Please feel free to contact one of us with a suggestion.
