Masters in Geoscience for Subsurface Exploration, Appraisal and Development
(Petroleum, Hydrocarbons)

There has never been a better time to be an industrial geologist! Society remains heavily reliant upon the Earth’s subsurface for resources such as hydrocarbons and water, and also for waste disposal (CO2 or toxic wastes).

GEOSEAD provides a training in skills in quantitative geoscience for integrated subsurface exploration and development. This includes many multi-disciplinary aspects of Geology, Geophysics, and Geo-engineering with a strong emphasis on hydrocarbon extraction - as that is where many of the techniques have been developed. The course builds on the renowned applied and research geoscience strengths of Edinburgh, Newcastle, and Heriot-Watt Universities in one if the UK’s major centres of excellence.
