Email

Most of the mail for members of the School is provided by Information Services through their StaffMail and SMS services. They also provide advice on setting up email programs.

Edinburgh Directory

Staff and postgraduate members of the School are encouraged to register and use an alias in the Edinburgh Directory of the form John.Doe@ed.ac.uk.

Mailing Lists

A number of mailing lists are provided for use within the School. More information on these can be obtained at /it/maillists or by sending a message to majordomo@lists.geos.ed.ac.uk with the command lists in the body of the message. You can also send the command help to get other information on the capabilities of the lists server.

Limit on message size

Note that the mailing lists have a block on messages which are larger than 100kbytes to avoid clogging up the email system. Please do not send large attachments to the list - save the attachment on a web page and email the URL instead.
