In the hills...

I love getting out in the hills as much as possible. I do a fair bit of rock and winter climbing in Scotland and the UK, braving the midges in summer and the rather variable conditions in winter. I also try to get further afield whenever possible and have climbed in the Alps, the Dolomites, New Zealand, Greenland, Alaska and the Yukon. I also enjoy hill-walking and have been known to run a few mountain marathons.... Come winter and it's time to strap those skis on. From touring in Scotland to resort-based holidays in Europe, the aim is to squeeze in as many ski days as possible - last year I managed 7 weeks! I am a qualified ski instructor and have skied in New Zealand, Greenland, the Alps and Canada.

At home...

I'm a keen guitar player and songwriter and also enjoy trying my hand at more electronic-based music. I occasionally play live at open-mic nights but most of the time I only inflict my music on my flatmates! I do a bit of writing when I get the chance, mostly about my experiences climbing and traveling and have had a couple of pieces published in a book and a magazine.
