Analysis Software - GIAS v1.0(c) Ciaran Beggan & Christopher Hamilton Introduction GIAS is an image processing package written in MATLAB, which facilitates the analysis of vesicle images and spatial distributions of objects using nearest neighbor statistics. This software is in development, so we would delighted with feedback or suggestions for improvements. The software consists of a Graphical User Interface (GUI) from which you can input images or a text file of (x,y) pair positions. The output is in a CSV text file, readable by a standard spreadsheet package (e.g. EXCEL, OpenOffice Calc). Screenshots You will find screen shots and example outputs of the GUI here. Download Note: This software is in test mode (beta) at the moment. Please contact us at: gias@geoanalysis.org for more details. A test version of the application is available as: MATLAB p-files: To download a copy of the MATLAB pseudocode (.p files) click here. This will run under Windows or Unix. Unzip the files into a specific directory and add that directory to your MATLAB path. Note that the Image Processing Toolbox and the Statistics Toolbox are required to run this GUI. Standalone executable (available on request): Windows XP version: To download a standalone executable which will run in Windows, you will need to install the MATLAB MCR files to run the GUI. The MCR files install a 'headless' form of MATLAB which allows you to run the GUI - you do not need to have a version of MATLAB or the associated toolboxes. Linux version: To download a standalone executable which will run in Linux, you will need to install the MATLAB MCR files to run the GUI. The MCR files install a 'headless' form of MATLAB which allows you to run the GUI - you do not need to have a version of MATLAB or the associated toolboxes. Example Test Files: To download a copy of the three test files from the submitted paper, click here. This file contains screengrabs and example statistics files to confirm the expected GIAS programme output. The following example images and solutions are in the GIASPaperExampleTestFiles.zip file:
Help You will find a more extensive Help section here. Feedback We would be delighted to have feedback, suggestions or comments that you have to make about the software. It is in testing mode at the moment, so user feedback would be most welcome. Please also report bugs to us at the following address: gias@geoanalysis.org We hope you will find this software useful.
