Web LinksFirst off, the PhD work mentioned here has been brought to you by the the letters G,M,T and F, and the number 90. In other words... The Linux distribution formerly known as Mandrake. For a while, this was the only fully functional free F90 compiler around (that I could find). GMT. Does nearly everything in terms of geo-visualisation. Good for some processing too apparently (If you're a Python user you might want to check out PyGMT by Magnus Hagdorn). Seismology LinksAnd until I get my seismology bookmarks properly organised, this ubiquitous link covers all sorts of useful stuff. And the rest... The USGS's recent earthquakes page And another version IRIS's version is a bit nicer though. The British Geological Survey's Earthquakes page. Some useful news sites in no particular order. The BBC The Times online The Register The Portadown News . Not as funny as it used to be. Still has the odd nugget though. The Onion Astronomy Picture of the Day Newsmap. A nice graphical represenation of the relative level of stories picked up by google news. Some useful sources of geophysical data (more along shortly)Ben Horner-Johnson's GMT links page . Covers lots of GMT stuff, plus links to loads of geophysical and geographical data.
