Testing models of uplift related to the closure of the Tethys ocean in the eastern Mediterranean region

[Field work in Crete]

Welcome to my homepage. I am currently a PhD student working on the tectonic uplift of the Kyrenia Range in Northern Cyprus. This work is being carried out with Professor Alastair Robertson, Dr Hugh Sinclair, Professor Dic Kroon and Mehmet Necdet.

This is a multidisciplinary study involving sedimentology, structural geology, palaeomagnetism, Luminescence dating and Ur-series dating.

Project status

Back from my main field season in Cyprus and currently:

1. Writing up the sedimentology based on field observations and petrographic work;
2. Preparing corals for Uranium-series dating;
3. Just back from the Luminescence conference in Aberystwyth. From this I will be preparing a paper on the results from the SUERC portable OSL.
4. Carrying out preparation and analysis on cores collected for Palaeomagnetic dating;
5. Writing up some very preliminary results on the Pliocene deposits in preparation of the next field season in April 2013.
