Hello and welcome to my research web page.

As a Forester / Environmental scientist I am always looking for opportunities to explore the diversity of the forested natural environments covering Earth's surface. I also enjoy researching these environments because of their capacity to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and provide habitat for endangered flora and fauna species, thus playing an important role in regulating Earth's climate as well conserving biodiversity.

The key problem observed though is that forests are under continuous threat, primarily by anthropogenic activities such as unsustainable timber extraction, conversion to agriculture areas and fire, causing serious effects in their economical and ecological value.

My research aims to determine whether is is possible to use Earth Observation (EO) as a cost-efficient and repeatable means to assess the economical and ecological value of these forested areas.
