The final report of the Scoping Study for the Scottish Initiative for International Development Science (SIIDS). This work was commissioned by the Scottish Government's Office of the Chief Scientific Adviser. The SIIDS process was taksed to identify opportunities to enhance the impact of Scottish investment for research and tertiary education in support of international development. The report concluded that there is opportunity to enhance the impact of current activities through collaborative processes linking Scottish institutions and their developing country partners.

Thematic Review: Conservation of Biodiversity on Islands: The contribution of the United Kingdom's Darwin Initiative 1993-2006

A thematic review commissioned by DEFRA's Darwin Initiative to undertake a systematic review of their investment on biodiversity research on islands. The reviewed was required to generate quantitative evidence of actual and potential impact as part of the UK Government's contribution to the Conference of Parties to the UN's Convention on Biological Diversity. The systematic review developed for this report was subsequently extended to cover all projects under the Darwin Initiative to form the basis for the Darwin Information Project which now underlies the Darwin Initiative website. A report on a Workshop hosted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Research in Rwanda at the end of a joint DFID / World Bank inception project to support the development of new legal and institutional structures for science, technology and innovation and their contribution to poverty reduction. DFID was represented by their Chief Scientific Adviser and Chief Economist. DFID support for the project, Science, Technology and Innovation for Results (STIR) was announced as this workshop. The STIR project was completed in 2009, with GoR approval for the establishment of a National Council for Science and Technology to be housed within the Ministry of Education
