Honorary Research Fellow

I am lecturer in Ecology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain), currently visitting Maurizio Mencuccini's lab at the University of Edinburgh. I joined Maurizio's lab in January 2003 for a two-year long postdoc. Before that I was research assistant at CREAF and lecturer at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where I also finished my PhD in November 2001. My PhD: "Constraints on water transport posed by xylem embolism: implications for drought and frost resistance in woody plants" was supervised by Drs. Pep Piñol and Pep Canadell. My general field of expertise is plant physiological ecology and, in particular, plant water relations. My current project in Edinburgh is focused on studying the physiological mechanisms underlying the age-related decline in forest productivity. Please refer to the corresponding link in the contents menu if you want to know more about my current and past research.
