Access to the Tephrochronology Analytical Unit

The service is free to the environmental and earth science community and academic institutions within the UK. Anyone who is eligible to apply for a NERC Research Grant is eligible to apply for analytical time. Facility staff are NOT eligible to apply.

Other scientists and commercial users may gain access to the Tephrochronology Analytical Unit for a charge.

Access is through the completion of a NERC application form and subject to peer review. This form may be down-loaded (Tephra Application) or obtained from the Unit Staff. One copy of the completed form should be sent via e-mail to ionprobe@ed.ac.uk and another signed copy to the Tephra Unit Staff

Access to the Ion Microprobe Unit for tephra related work has to be made via an application form obtained from the Ion Microprobe Staff.

A successful applicant will be requested to agree and sign NERCs Data Protocol agreement prior to starting work.
