Target preparation laboratory for Be and Al AMS targets. The lab is pressurized with filtered air and supplied with 18.2 M-ohm de-ionized water (photo: W.M.Phillips)
Wash-down facility
Fume hood with wash-down facility rated for use with HF and HClO4. A recirculating fume hood is on the right. This is used for cation and anion exchange procedures used in Be and Al AMS target manufacture (photo: W.M.Phillips)
Etching Laboratory
Ultrasonic cleaners used in the HF + HNO3 etching procedure. This procedure produces ultrapure (<200 ppm Al) quartz separates that is free from meteoric 10Be.
Geochemistry Laboratory
Main geochemistry lab (shared) with laminar flow hood (rt) and atomic absorption spectrometer (rear center). The AAS is used for measurement of elemental Al and Be, as well as tracking AMS target contaminants such as Ti.
