Point Counting

Two Point Counting system are available:
  • Leica/Prior system
  • Conwy Valley System

Leica/Prior System

The Up-graded Leica microscope with Prior ES11LB motorised stage (November 2007) and in-house software can be used for point counting.
Point Counter

The point counting software allows:

  • Stage movement up to 126mm x 76mm in micron steps
  • Stepsize from microns to centimeters
  • Up to 8 mineral phases can be logged
  • Random point selection within a ROI
  • Text file output option

Conwy Valley System

The Conwy Valley System's PetrogLite point counter was purcahsed from School funds in 2009.
The digital stepping stage can be mounted on the rotary stage of the Nikon or Leica microscopes and is connected and controlled via a serial cable to your computer.
