Background information

Location

The Conference will be held in the South Hall Complex within Edinburgh University's Pollock halls. Pollock halls are located next to the Commonwealth Swimming Pool on 18 Holyrood Park Road at the foot of Arthur's Seat. It is a 30 minute walk south of Princes Street in the centre of Edinburgh. Travel

We encourage the use of public transport and to avoid flying for those travelling from within the UK.

By Train: Edinburgh's principal railway terminus is Waverley Station, and a taxi to Pollock will cost about £6. There is a taxi rank inside the station next to Platform 11.

By Coach / bus: Coaches arrive in St Andrews Square almost directly across Princes st. from the Waverley Train Station.

By Car: Parking at Pollock Halls is limited and is on a first come first served basis.

Getting from the airport to the conference:
Edinburgh Airport is around a 20 minute drive to the University. A taxi should cost £15-20 or there is a frequent bus service to Waverley train station for £5 return fare. We recommend using the Edinburgh Shuttle.

Edinburgh Shuttle provides a fleet of spacious seven seat mini-coaches and runs every 15 minutes between the airport and Edinburgh Shuttle’s City zone with pick up and drop off at any address - home, hotel, business or conference venue. Vehicles arrive and depart from outside the terminal building at UK Arrivals next to the Edinburgh Shuttle sales kiosk. Passengers without reservations are accepted subject to availability. Fares are fixed at £9 one way for an individual, door to door, with reduced rates for passengers travelling together to the same destination.
